Avril Lavigne: “The Theme Is Pink!”
February 26, 2008 by Colleen
According to Avril, The Best Damn Tour is going to be pink! “Yes! The theme is pink!” she says in an interview with MTV. “The theme is like a party!” The stage will be set with a pink drum set and a pink piano - both of which Avril will be playing (in addition to her pink guitar).
Avril also described her tour plans, saying, “I want a crazy, fun, rockin’-out-with-everyone set, so I’ve got a ton of people onstage with me.”
Check out more of what Avril had to reveal about The Best Damn Tour after the jump!
According to Avril:
- This is her biggest production ever. She’s got backup dancers, outfit changes, LED screens and a moving stage. “I just wanted the show to be more showy. I wanted to take it to the next level,” she explained.
- She’s also planning a stripped-down acoustic session in the middle of the set as a “coming-down” moment. These acoustic songs will be just Avril performing alone.
- Despite refusing to wear a mic on her head the way other performers (like Britney Spears or Beyonce) do, Avril will definitely be doing more talking to the crowd while she’s onstage.
- She plans to try to sing “Girlfriend” in different languages for different countries. Says Avril: “I may try to sing some of the easier ones live. I think Japanese I can pull off. I’m not sure about the other ones. It was almost impossible to record because there were so many words and more syllables and I had to squash them in, so I don’t know. We’ll see.”
- She has high expectations for The Best Damn Tour to be her best yet, promising, “I feel like I’m at my best and this will be my best performance so far. I can’t wait!”

Like a lot of little girls, pink was one of my favorite colors growing up: I think it’s a shame when grown women feel that they have grown out of pink or that pink is too girlie. It’s soft, classic, femme: and a lady should always have pink in her wardrobe.
Nice color-choice, Av.
