London, Sep 9 (IANS) Canadian singer Avril Lavigne says her favourite place to perform is Britain because the fans here are more enthusiastic.Lavigne also said that her fans in Europe are more responsive than her fans in the US.

Ananova.com reports her saying: “Crowds over here tend to be way more insane. I don’t know what it is but in Europe everyone is so up for it. I always have a great time because the crowds are just there to enjoy it.”

Lavigne says that she is her own inspiration.

She said: “I have a smile on my face the whole time. I write my songs just for me, about what pleases me and what I’m feeling. I have my own style that happens to be different from everyone else in Hollywood. My inspiration is me.

Avril Lavigne OK! Magazine Interview July 2008

July 30, 2008 by Colleen

Avril LavigneAvril Lavigne gave an interview with OK! magazine about her new clothing line, Abbey Dawn, her canceled shows on the Best Damn Tour, rumors of partying, that rumor of brunette-only back-up singers, and much more. Here’s the Q&A portion:

There are hordes of fans lined up around the building today to meet you and see your new clothing line. That has to feel nice.
It kind of feels like my birthday or something. It’s a whole new experience for me — to have a crowd of people and it not really having anything to do with my music.

How involved with the design were you?
I am the designer and the concept obviously came from me. As far as designing goes, I just sat down and told everyone what I love and what I don’t like, and basically the clothes are everything that I would wear.

Was it important for you to keep prices down on the items in your line?
It’s definitely important. The clothes that I wear are affordable. I don’t really wear that many high-end stuff, so pretty much everything is from $24-$48 so it’s really affordable for young people.

Where did the name Abbey Dawn come from?
That was nickname from my dad when I was a little girl. It was my alias name when I first started my musical career. I used to think maybe I’ll have a girl and call her Abbey one day, but I had a clothing line first.

Speaking of which: Are you planning on having children someday?
Oh God! I don’t want to have kids for like 10 years. I still have a lot to do. I don’t even know if I could handle a dog right now. I’m so not ready. Someday I’ll be a mom but not until I’m in my 30s.

Avril Lavigne Wants to Run a Celebrity Magazine!

April 2, 2008 by Colleen

Avril wants to run a celebrity magazine?! After her sold-out show at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City this weekend, Avril told the New York Daily News that she’d want to try running a scandal-free celebrity magazine. Says Avril:

“I would make it completely positive. There’s so much negativity right now. I’d pick up the big stories, but they’d have to be positive.”

What do you guys think about that idea? Would you bother to read a magazine that only had nice things to say about people like Paris Hilton?

Avril Lavigne Is NOT a Pushover!

February 22, 2008 by Colleen

Avril in this month’s Maxim on the tabloids and her own character:

“I’m not a tabloid girl. And because there is nothing scandalous about me, they make up lies. Look, I’m a strong person. I’m clear about what I like, what I don’t like, and what I want. I’m not a pushover. People can interpret that as me being a bitch, but in my position, I have to be able to protect my image.”

You tell ‘em, girl.

Avril Lavigne Thinks Shopping on Robertson Blvd is “Lame”

February 21, 2008 by Colleen

This is what Avril had to say in this month’s edition of Maxim about her peers and their obessession with the paparazzi:

“I think a lot of the Hollywood girls, I won’t get into names, are obsessed with the paparazzi. They call them or go to the Ivy so they’ll be seen and followed the rest of the day. I like, won’t go shopping on Robertson in L.A., because it’s so cheesy. I would feel lame. It’s embarrassing.”

You’d never go shopping on Robertson, Avril?  Like, ever?

Avril Lavigne Tells Maxim About Pregnancy Rumors

February 19, 2008 by Colleen

avril-maxim2Here’s what Avril had to say in her interview in March 2008’s Maxim about those pesky pregnancy rumors floating around:

Maxim: Now it seems like all bloggers are saying you’re pregnant…
Avril: Remember in high school when people would start fake rumors about you? Well, this isn’t high school; it’s like, the entire world.

You know, Tracy Morgan Jordan once said in that fantastic episode of 30 Rock, “I love this corn bread so much, I want to take it out behind the middle school and get it pregnant.”  I have no idea how that relates to Avril’s comment, but both involve school and pregnancy.  And I do know that when it down, there’s always corn bread.  Ain’t nothing wrong with that!
