Malaysian Group Set to Protest Outside Avril Lavigne’s Concert

Avril Lavigne’s big concert in Malaysia is tomorrow night (Aug 29) and despite getting approval from the government after Islamic protests tried to have her banned, the show will still go on! However, the Pan Malaysian Islamic Party PAS has said that they will continue to protest, this time outside the venue before it starts.

Avril Lavigne’s Concert Faces Controversy in Malaysia

Despite protests demanding that Avril Lavigne be banned from performing in Malaysia by PAS Youth in early August, reports say that “Everything is moving very positively. We have spoken to the authorities involved and things look good. We’ve organized the show according to the rules. There is nothing wrong. We’ve reached positive and assuring feedback from the authorities.”
Avril was being protested by the Federal Territory PAS Youth group because, according to PAS Youth chief Kamaruzaman Mohamed, “rock and punk are not suitable for the young generation, especially so during the Merdeka month.”
